Niacinamide

INCI
Niacinamide
Also called
Vitamin B3, nicotinamide
Best for
uneven tone, visible pores, dullness, barrier support

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 used widely in skincare as a general-purpose conditioning ingredient. It supports the skin barrier — the outer layer responsible for holding moisture in and keeping irritants out — and is commonly used for the appearance of uneven tone, visible pores and dullness. It is notably well tolerated, which is why it appears so often in products aimed at sensitive skin.

How well established is this?

One of the better-studied cosmetic ingredients, with a long history of use and a good tolerability record. The size of any visible effect varies with concentration and formula, so treat precise percentage-improvement claims with caution.
